What You’ll Learn

PBA’s sports broadcasting program will equip you to:

  • Construct elements for video production and apply that knowledge within the sports media industry
  • Illustrate storytelling techniques, representational production aesthetics, and media narratives
  • Apply a thorough understanding of sports culture context through a biblical lens
  • Write skillfully for various media platforms.

Sailfish Sports Network

Partner with the Sailfish Sports Network, our campus-run streaming service for all major Palm Beach Atlantic Division II athletics competitions. Gain hands-on experience directing a multi-camera broadcast, operating top-notch equipment, providing play-by-play commentary, and doing more behind-the-scenes production work for PBA’s baseball, basketball, lacrosse, softball, soccer, and indoor volleyball home games.

Program Details

The sports broadcasting degree prepares you to deliver action-by-action visual and audio commentary on some of the most exciting moments in sports. Each semester, you’ll expand your skills in the hands-on sports broadcasting lab and in specialized courses for producing live sports, sports documentaries, news reporting, and more—these labs make up 16 of the sports broadcasting program’s 120 credit hours. 

Gain further real-world practice in a sports broadcasting internship and broaden your knowledge with additional electives, a minor, or a second major.

Work behind the scenes and gain on-camera experience in a rotation of crew positions with Sailfish Sports Network Productions, our on-campus broadcast hub for all things Game Day. Each semester in the broadcasting lab, develop skills in new professional positions and discern your passions within sports broadcasting.

Our mission is to equip you as a well-rounded citizen in your sports broadcasting career, as a member of your community, and as a representative of Christ in the world. Your Faith, Roots, and Reason general education courses broaden your understanding of mathematics, global studies, science, humanities, biblical studies, and more.

Become confident in the unique demands of sports broadcasting through courses in non-linear editing, live sports production, sports media postproduction, sports documentary production, and more. You’ll also study basics of production and reporting in classes on journalism, digital video production, and news reporting.

Build on your expertise from the sports broadcasting lab in an internship with a local broadcast network. On-the-job observation and work experience deepens your familiarity with the hectic demands of sports broadcasting and strengthens your resume as you venture into the profession.
